Warm spell ending in Southwest, providing upside to demand this week

Southwest rescomm fell to a year-to-date low of 2.41 Bcf/d on Saturday as temperatures reached 64 degrees Fahrenheit, a day-on-day change of 1.3 degrees F, but have since started to slide back to normal. A warm spell that has blanketed the west coast has begun to lift, making room for heating load to return to near-normal levels by the end of this week. Population-weighted temperatures in the Southwest are forecast to reach a low of 55.6 degrees F on March 24, down 5.7 degrees F from March 20 expectations and 8.4 degrees F from the past weekend's average. The Northwest will face differing weather conditions over the next week, where temperatures are forecast to build by roughly 1 degree F from levels seen over the weekend and to Monday's gas day. West demand is forecast to average 9.1 Bcf/d over the next seven days, a build of 0.5 Bcf/d from Monday and the 0.9 Bcf/d from the past weekend.
